Shope Offices Remodel Scheduled

Shope Concrete Products began the first phase in remodeling their second and third floor offices. The remodel began in mid February of 2005. "We had so many years of growth and changes to our business, we didn't have the time or engery to think about remodeling our offices" said Gary Hall, President of Shope Concrete Products. "Business typically slows in late winter, but this year was the exception. We decided it was time to push ahead with the remodel in the midst of our heavy workload."

In 1975, the top floor was originally an apartment built for founder John H. Pattee and his wife Marion. "I think we'll miss the fireplace the most", said Melissa Pattee, Accounting. "Where else can you go to work at your desk with a fireplace at your side, besides your home."

The third floor office features a large open room for desks, a separate lunch kitchenette, a computer server room, men and women's restrooms, conference room, and an additional large back office area. "We basically gutted the entire upstairs", said Tim Porter, Contractor. "We're installing a light maple wood floor, new windows, paint, trim, and wood glass doors. It will drastically change the look and feel in comparison to the 'ol 1970's construction. And, yes... we removed the fireplace too."

The next phase will begin at the second story floor continuing the same theme. A start date is scheduled for May of 2005. The last remodel was completed in late 2001 when Shope Concrete Products expanded it's engineering room, and added a large employee locker room and lunch area.
